Information
for the parents before we start:
Transportation
- The bus will be picking campers up each Saturday at 11 a.m. near
the office at 4950 Yonge Street (Yonge and Shepard).
- Registration
will be held between 10:15 and 10:45 a.m.
- Arriving to Madawaska
Sunshine Camp between 2:30 and 3:00 p.m.
The child should bring the following things
- Toothbrush and tooth paste
- Make sure you pack some comfortable clothes, both short and long
sleeves, shorts and pants. Clothes should be convenient for walking,
including long-distance, sun tanning and bus tours
- A raincoat or a light waterproof jacket may be needed in case it
is raining or windy
- Shoes should be comfortable, including beach shoes, slippers, sneakers
or running shoes and comfortable sandals for walks and tours
- Don’t forget a hat – it may be a baseball hat or a
Panama hat
- Repellent or ointment for insect bites
- Sun proof lotion
Approximate Menu
Breakfast served between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m.
- Oatmeal or cereal
- Eggs and sausage
- Yogurt
- Bun with butter
- Tea or cocoa (coffee) with milk
Snack at 11:00 – 11:15 a.m.
Lunch at 1:00 – 1:30 p.m.
- Salads
- Meat Soups
- Steamed meat, meat balls, beef-stroganoff, goulash served
with potatoes, rice, beans, sautéed vegetables, macaroni,
etc.
- Tea or compote

Snack at 4:30 – 4:45 p.m.
- Bun, crackers, cocoa, tea and milk
Dinner at 7:30 – 8:30 p.m.
- Salad
- Fish (steamed or fried), poultry (steamed or fired) with
garnish
- Juice

Events
Sports – a variety of sports activities based on personal
preferences (volleyball, basketball, badminton, table tennis, shooting,
chess, checkers and other games as well as swimming and water play
twice a day – mornings and evenings)
Tourism – walking along forest paths, boat trips along
the river, special cognitive trips, such as “Nature around
Us”, “Wild Nature and Us. Knowing and Protecting”, “Algonquin
Park Flora and Fauna”, “Surviving in a Wild Forest”
Tours – bus tours to Algonquin Park museums (Natural
Museum, Logging Museum), visiting Art Gallery, art studios and potters
workshops
Entertainment – participating and performing in drama
shows, various games, competitions of young talents, fishermen, gardeners,
drama and singing parties, camp fire circles, intellectual game “What?
Where? When?”
Staff
Ratio of adults per children 1:4
- Camp Manager and
Senior Sports Instructor Vladimir Jutiaikin is a master
of sports in water tourism.
- Sports Instructor - Sergey Finebrge.
- Senior
Teacher plans ad coordinates entertainment
and other events.
- Team Leaders are both lifeguards
licensed in Canada with extensive experience working in summer camps.
- Support Staff looks after cleaning bedrooms, cottages,
territory and cafeteria.
- Assistants are senior campers (16-17 year-olds).
Administrative Board ensures
compliance with the rules and participates in planning and coordinating
activities and events. Administrative Board is obliged to notify
parents immediately of any drastic changes in child’s behavior
and to report any health issues. Administrative Board reserves the
right to send the child back to Toronto if the child violates rules
and/or fails to comply with schedules.
Parents are obliged to produce
all the necessary documents and provide child with camp necessities
including clothes, shoes and other, should be on time for registration
(10:15 – 10:45 a.m.),
departure (11.00 a.m.) and arrival in Toronto at 8 p.m. Parents agree
to notify Administrative Board promptly of any changes. Parents will
be able to call camp and speak to the coordinator or their child every
day between 8 p.m. and 9p.m., and will be able to visit camp on a designated
day (Friday). Those parents, who would like to stay over night, will
need to submit application beforehand.
